Just by looking at the book cover, I felt disturbed. There’s a beautiful white pearl necklace…broken. And the title was really…. But the book was fantastic.
The story is about a girl named Ally Ryan whose father bankrupted all his friends who were rich. To avoid humiliation, Ally and her mother left. And her father left them. But two years later, she’s back in town and she doesn’t receive a very good welcome. Her “old” friends change dramatically and start doing pranks on her. But there’s a new member of the new group, Jake Graydon. And he’s living in her old home. They both have sparks flying between them, and start to have feelings for each other. But Jake has no idea about Ally’s father’s scandal. Also, his new friends aren’t exactly really happy that he’s totally falling for her.
Ally comes back home to find that there is more to life than just money. And she faces more problems as her so called “friends” blame Ally for her father’s downfall. Also, where’s her father? Even though her mom has a new boyfriend, where is he though? He has called or contacted him in anyway.
She’s So Dead to Us is told through two different points of view, Ally and Jake. While Ally is being humiliated, Jake is just there to tag along, but he does get some second thoughts.
As I read the very last page of the book, I sat there gaping. I was totally shocked. I actually have no idea if there will be a sequel, but if there is…I’m totally going to read it.
Kieran Scott’s She’s So Dead to Us is a fun, light, and chick lit novel is the bomb!Just by looking at the book cover, I felt disturbed. There’s a beautiful white pearl necklace…broken. And the title was really…. But the book was fantastic.

Vixen takes you back on an eccentric ride back to the 1920’s. It’s all about style, wealth, beauty and obviously scandal. Three young girls are about to go on a journey to find who they really are. One girl wants to a flapper; another to keep her secret hidden; and the last girl to make it to the top.
Gloria Carmody is a rich white society girl and living the life every single girl wants. A rich family. Servants. Friends. The Press. And even a fiancé. She is forced into a marriage with one of Chicago’s most wanted bachelors, Sebastian Grey. A handsome young man every mother wants for her daughter. But she doesn’t really want it because she wants to be a flapper. A girl who is free to do anything she wants, even if that means getting a bobbed haircut, smoking cigarettes and dancing to the rhythm of music. Inside of being under the watchful eyes of her mother, Gloria gets her chance, and alongside her friends, Marcus and Lorraine, sneak into one of the most notorious flapper pub, Green Mill. Gloria has never felt so alive; drinking dirty martinis or dancing to the heart beating music is the flapper lifestyle. Unfortunately, her late night getaways may fall to a dirty end…
Gloria’s cousin, Clara Knowles, has arrived to Chicago to help her cousin prepare for her wedding. As a country girl, some people think that Clara doesn’t have what it takes to live up to the standards of a society girl. Even her cousin and her friends are plotting against her. Not only is she staying with her cousin to help, but also to hid a terrible secret and wishes to leave her past life behind her. But someone’s catching up to her, and all her memories are flowing back. Will Clara ever escape?
Last but not least is Gloria’s loyal and childhood friend, Lorraine Dyer. She’s always there to help her friend Gloria. To comfort her and to take away all her tears. And they do sneak off to the Green Mill together. But Lorraine wants so thing more; something that she most likely can’t have. Lorraine discovers something that she may use to get back on top and out of Gloria’s shadow. But it may also be her downfall…
These three girls are not to be messed with. Their young and beautiful lifestyle is just a cover of what is really hidden inside. Gloria, Clara and Lorraine want something so badly, that they will do anything to get it or keep it a secret.
Vixen is a historical teen fiction novel that basically tells any girl’s story. From being beautiful to fashion to love, this book tells it all. Each girl is flung into a course of events that may change their lives forever. Each girl is willing to take risks so that their lives can be better.
This novel reminds me about the Luxe series by Anna Godbersen. Even though the series takes place in Manhattan in 1899, both stories share the same concept. The Holland sisters, Elizabeth and Diana remind me of Gloria and Clara. They may not be sisters, but they are cousins. As the oldest, Elizabeth is engaged to be married, just like Gloria. And Elizabeth falls in love with one of her servants which is most unlikely to happen. In Vixen, Gloria falls in love with someone different and not her fiancé, Bastian. Then there is Diana who shares a similar background with Clara. Clara is hiding a secret. Diana is having an affair with someone that she shouldn’t be in. They both want to hide it. At first, their personalities share the same qualities. They are both naïve and young, but gradually change and become “woman.” Lastly there is Lorraine who is somewhat similar to Penelope Hayes. Penelope had fallen in love with someone that she and Diana have to share. She wants to marry that man, and will do anything to make sure that happens. After reading Wish by the same author a few months ago, I thought that maybe Wishful Thinking will be just as creative and majestic as the first novel. But now I'm disappointed. Wishful Thinking has the similar concept: (1) a girl with a ripped dress (2) meets a magical seamstress who takes the dress (3) but returns with different dresses. (4) The girl gets three wishes. Choose wisely.
Hazel is an interesting character. She's a photographer. She's smart, a little naive, but in the end, mature. She's an orphan. But I understand her need to find her parents. I wonder what it would be like to lose and to never meet your parents.
Unlike Olivia Larsen who lost her twin sister, Hazel Snow lost her parents. She has moved to many cities, new families and friends. Unexpectedly when Hazel turns eighteen, her foster parent, Roy, gives her an envelope, and its her birth certificate. She discovers that her mother's name, looks online and finds a chance to meet her. But something terrible happens.
Hazel wishes to meet her mother and is suddenly sent into the past, just a few months before she was born. She now has the chance to finally meet the mother she never knew.
During that summer, she finds her, a home, an unexpected love and most unlikely friendship. But Hazel starts to uncover some secrets and has the chance to change the future. Her future.
With only two wishes, Hazel struggles. Thinking about what she desperately wants takes Hazel on a journey into her past.

The Splendor Falls is an interesting, ghost-invovled novel. Even though it is about 500 pages long, it didn't take me long to finish reading.
Sylvie Davis was an infamous prima ballerina. She was making her debut as a top-of-the-line dancer, until she fell and broke her leg. Her mother had recently married "Dr. Shrink" (as Sylvie calls him). She went a "little" over board after drinking glasses of champagne. Against her will Sylvie is sent to her distant cousin in Alabama to "recover" and avoid the attention of the media.
Unfortunately, Sylvie knows almost nothing about her father's background. She doesn't know that he had lived in a grand estate known as Bluestone Hill. Her cousin, Paula, is hoping to transform the mansion into an inn. But there are still a few people already living in the house.
The seventeen-year-old ballerina meets two handsome young men. There is Rhys, a handsome, smart, somewhat annoying and secretive twenty-year-old man helping his father with his research. And then there's Shawn; he is the opposite of Rhys. He's charming, optimistic and a little too close for comfort (in my opinion). While Rhys tries to avoid Sylvie, Shawn comes up and tries to have a conversation.
Being stuck in an isolated estate is least of Sylvie's problems. She starts to see ghosts. There is the wailing sound of a crying baby in the distant wind. The woman near the river. The man who haunts Bluestone known as the Colonel, Sylvie's ancestor. Sylvie realizes that there has to be a link between the ghosts and Bluestone Hill or maybe her coming to the estate.
There must be something else. Something in the earth; something that is stirring. Rhys is hiding a something, and Shawn is not exactly who he seems to be. Who should she trust?
This is the first book that I have ever read by the author. And so far I am quite pleased. The Splendor Falls is suspenseful, a little eccentric, heartbreaking, but contentful. The Splendor Falls is an interesting, ghost-invovled novel. Because I Am Furniture is an okay book to read. I expected a lot more to the novel. The story is told through poetry which I am not a great fan of, specifically Ellen Hopkins' series.
Anke is fourteen years old, and the youngest in the family, but she struggles as the relationship in the family shatters. Her older brother and sister are being abused by their own father. While their mother just watches him hurt them. Luckily and unluckily, Anke is left alone. She hears their shallow and weak voices every day.
She discovers that she has a voice after joining her high school's volleyball team. In volleyball if you want to hit the ball, you cry, "MINE!" She learns a lot from her friends and coach.
Anke's father goes out with younger women and starts to notice her some-what friend, Angeline. She feels like she is about to explode. Anke needs to step up against her father; to discover that she has a voice.
The novel is fine. It has a great message but not that great. Just fine.Because I Am Furniture is an okay book to read. I expected a lot more to the novel. The story is told through poetry which I am not a great fan of, specifically Ellen Hopkins' series.

Absolutely thrilling and compelling! Reading Unearthly took me on a tremendous ride with Clara. I bought this book a few days ago. And I read it in just a few hours. Unearthly was suspenseful, electrifying and beautiful.
Clara Gardner is a sixteen-year-old teenage girl who has lived a life as any other teenager. That is until she found out that she isn't "normal"; she's an angel-blood, well at least only a quarter part-angel. She's not Nephilim who are descendants from Black Wings or Fallen Angels, but from the pure angels, so their descendants prefer the term angel-blood. Clara starts to have visions unexpectedly while doing her everyday activities. She sees a handsome boy, almost her age, in a forest, but surrounded by fire. Bit by bit, there is a new part to the vision. Her mother decides to leave to Jackson, Wyoming to follow Clara's destiny, her purpose on this earth.
However once they arrive at Jackson (more specifically at the high school), certain things happen to Clara and stir her off course. There are two boys: Christian and Tucker. Christian is the perfect boy Clara could ever imagine. He's kind, breathtaking and sweet. And she realizes that he is the boy from her vision. Then there is Tucker, the complete opposite of Christian. He is a nuisance and totally bursting her bubble, but cute and possibly loyal. Clara discovers that there is something more to Tucker. Clara has to choose between destiny or love.
Clara is a great heroine. She's head-strong, beautiful and complete, but just a little bit naive. She makes new friends, and also befriends another angel-blood. She discovers true love, friendship and loyalty.
Unearthly is a definite must-read. It is AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING!! It kept me licking my lips for more. I can't wait for Cynthia Hand to write a sequel for this awesome book!!Absolutely thrilling and compelling! Reading Unearthly took me on a tremendous ride with Clara.
