It took me awhile to get into this historical fiction novel but once I did get into it, I quite enjoyed it. I know nothing about Emily Dickinson.

The events are in reverse time order - they switch time periods about half way through the film. I could not figure out the plot twist about the two boys who were kidnapped - maybe I have to watch it again? A thriller though. Check out wikipedia too!

I enjoyed reading about his life. I saw BB in a performance at the NAC back around 2004; he was very entertaining, along with some singers and musicians. He also played the piano that evening.

I really enjoyed reading this family saga. My only complaints were that the ending was a little flat. The author should have included a glossary of Japanese/Korean words.
I wonder what Japanese folks think of this novel too?

This book needed editing at 368 pages. It should be shorter. I preferred The It Girl.
It took me awhile to get into the story. Who killed the mother during the hit and run??

This is a light funny, novel about an immigrant family from Vietnam - so it is partially autobiographical too. This is the author's first novel!

A great collection of short stories but not for the faint of heart - especially just before bedtime. I have always enjoyed Ian Rankin's novels too.

This is a bittersweet but very realistically story of a daughter/mother/brother relationship. The mother was entering a nursing home. It might be easier to read this novel after the passing of one's parent.
I highly recommend it for anyone whose parents lived in a retirement or a long term care home or nursing home. I enjoyed this novel as I generallly really like Donna Leon's novels (most of them).
She is an excellent writer and really creates a sense of place, in Venice.
I did visit Venice this year and thought back to her novels while walking about the city.

I started to read it - more history than true literature - so I gave up. It is a translation.
I will try the film.
