One could easily drive the entire length of 280, returning from treating one's sister to a Burmese birthday dinner in the city, into the magnificent conflagration of a massive all night lightning storm, with the ten-minute majesty of "Station to Station" on repeat the whole way, and feel completely exhilarated simply by the idea of electricity, before one realizes that one hasn't even made it to the second track yet. The second track is "Golden Years." That's a pretty awesome way to start an album.

We try to keep our homes clean, yet after picking up, they always go back to the way it was before: messy. We try to get rid of things that are no longer useful, yet our home is still filled with stuff. We try to buy organizing containers and put it all away, but isn't that just hiding the things we don't use?
Marie Kondo approaches tidying and decluttering from a new perspective. It is not that you are getting rid of things, you are choosing what to keep. Everything you keep should be significant. When you go through your items in your home you should handle each one. When you hold it, you ask yourself "does this item bring me joy?" In other words do you like it? Does it make you happy? Or is it just filler?
She has a specific order with which to tackle your home, clothing being the first. Kondo's method is to select one category at a time, like tops: shirts, sweaters, etc, from all regions of the home where things may be hiding. You lay them all out on the floor and handle each item one by one. Is it something that sparks a positive feeling? Or is just that shirt you wear because it fits?
Her other method of staying on top of your clothing is to fold it, all of it! That seems a little crazy, however, it does two things: One, it helps you save space if you fold your clothes and put them in drawers. Two, by folding each item, you handle it individually and you can assess it. Is the item in good condition? Do you like it? Does it suit your needs? If not get rid of it!
So many times the hardest part is getting rid of something, especially when it is a piece of clothing with the tag still on it. Kondo does a good job of explaining the value in thanking the item for doing its job: providing us a with an enjoyable shopping trip and telling us why we never wore the item, and then saying goodbye to it. I really enjoyed this book and the fresh perspective on tidying up.We try to keep our homes clean, yet after picking up, they always go back to the way it was before: messy.
