This story made a good start with a likeable main character, an interesting setting, and the beginnings of an intriguing plot. But as it went on it became rather far-fetched. The main character, Georgie, has been married to a gay man for 20 years and has accepted this situation. Georgie gets messages about her "husband" and does not call the police. She takes a boat out at night, not having any experience of driving a boat! There are unexplained noises in her house that she almost dismisses. She goes out to a farm (at night again) even though she thinks it is run by drug dealers and money sharks. Yes, you do have to suspend reality a bit when you read these types of mysteries, but this went beyond and ended up being just ridiculous. This story made a good start with a likeable main character, an interesting setting, and the beginnings of an intriguing plot. This is one of the best mystery series out there. I absolutely love Mitch and Desiree and their loving, but sometimes complicated relationship. The plots are always interesting and involve new and long-time characters in the series. I can't wait for the next installment. Wonderful!!This is one of the best mystery series out there. I have enjoyed many of the books in this series, but I can't say that about this one. The ongoing relationship between Hannah and her 2 fellows is getting old. They talk to and about each other like they are teenagers. It's just silly. The mystery becomes complicated quite early and refers to issues in other books. I don't usually give up on a book but I stopped reading this one half way through. I am not sure if I will continue with this series.I have enjoyed many of the books in this series, but I can't say that about this one. I really enjoyed this first book in this culinary mystery series. Jenna is a very appealing and strong female character with an interesting back story. The scenic location of Crystal Cove and the eclectic mix of village characters add to the story. I am looking forward to reading the 2nd book, now available.I really enjoyed this first book in this culinary mystery series. This is a wonderful first novel for this author. The main character is a strong female with a touching and heartbreaking back story. The exciting and suspenseful plot flows and once you start reading it is difficult to put down.
