I don't understand why American authors can't seem to write about brutal subject matter without making the behaviors of characters disgusting and hyper-violent. I am a fan of Scandinavian Noir which frequently are very "dark". The…

I thought it was an interesting read. I am sad that one of the main characters was killed but I hope the introduction of Cassie is just the beginning of more stories as she grows.

I will never look at truck stops the same way. Marvelous novel about a serial killer, the Lizard King, who is a long haul truck driver. The sisters from Back of the Beyond are back, as they drive to meet Justin , Cody Hoyt's son for…

Didnt like this book at all. I was sad to see Cody die and the sadistic perversion of the 3 men made me feel sick because those kidnappings and eventual deaths actually happen. Not sure I will read anymore.

The Highway is (primarily) about a long haul truck driver/serial killer, and we listened on a road trip to Ohio. As the novel got rolling, I was staring up at every semi we passed with a new perspective! The reality of the story was…

Full of factual errors. These could have been avoided with manageable changes to the storyline . Thankfully he has improved both style and substance with his later books.

A creepy story, especially if you are listening to it while driving

Not "grisly" as some below proclaim. I prefer his Pickett novels but this is his second in the "King" vein, and he leaves an obvious opening for at least one more in this series. He kept me engaged and I look forward to his next tale.

This is the second book I've read by Box. A disappointing twist part-way through and an unsatisfactory ending.

Has to be the best C. J. Box book I've ever read! With a shocking plot twist partway thru, it was fast-paced, well-written & a complete revelation! I read it in two days, it was THAT good!!

CJ Bix Fans - Don't bother with this one Not only not CJ's best works, it is at the absolute bottom IMHO Maybe it's because he is trying to get into the head of a criminal low-life rather than an LEO, or maybe he was rushed to meet a…

This was the first book I read by C.J. Box, and now I am going to go get more . I thought it was a good read, finished it in two days.

Like millions of you I love the Joe Pickett novels by C.J. Box. But "The Highway" is just plain predictable and such claptrap that I have to put a thumbs down for overall review. Why does such a revered writer have to resort to another…

Not one of C J Box' best, but you have to admire a writer who takes the risks that he has in this book. Enough said... any more would be a spoiler.

This is a very intense and grisly book. Definitely not for the squemish. The plot is an exact copy of William Kent Krueger;s "Copper River" althought Krueger is no where near as graphic. Just a cautionary word of dvice.

No place near my favorite from Box; an unexpected and disconcerting plot twist about halfway through left a bad taste in my mouth.

Generally, I really enjoy CJ Box. Unfortunately, this is my least fav. Can't say why without spoilers...
