One of the best biographies I have read. It's quite a tome, but worth every minute I spent on it. I was so amazed to learn of all JA's many accomplishments. He truly was a key player in the American Revolution in so many ways, & not…

John Adams is a good person to read about - especially now. Many times we have to look back to be able to go forward. John Adams was not a very popular person but everything he worked on - all of it - was done for our country. Never for…

You have to like this book. I didn't know much about John Adams before this. I do now, and am very impressed. What a good man and President. How do you follow Washington? He did with as much grace as anyone could expect. His was a…

The intimate nature in which McCullough investigates the second president makes him feel every bit like the heroic character that he was during his time.

While McCullough is clearly a brilliant author and historian (he made the politics and engineering behind the Brooklyn Bridge entertaining in The Great Bridge), clearly the genius of this work belongs to Adams himself, as well as Abigail,…

David McCullough's biographies are so readable and this one is no exception. It's difficult to make the Founding Fathers (and Mothers!) seem human. Not only is there an historical aura that surrounds them, but all we have to see what they…

Author David McCullough notes that history hasn't been generally kind on one-term US Presidents, but John Adams does not come out as a failed President. After nearly a decade as America's first diplomat and a working relationship as Vice…
