Apr 13, 2012 Wonder why it did not get its rightful accolades before DVD/VCR release, a for hire black hitman raising homing pigeons on a roof top for the Italian mobs? The reviews at rotten…

This may be the most accessible of Jim Jarmusch's films. The title character is a modern African American hit man, who follows the bushido code of the medieval samurai, for a nearly expired Italian American mob family consisting of…

Great soundtrack and well-filmed movie full of Jim Jarmusch-y oddities. Love it.

"Ghost Dog" -- fascinating rhythmic film with Forest Whitaker giving a subtle portrayal of a gun for hire who follows the samurai code. Jim Jarmusch has come up with another clever film.

This is one of a kind. Immersed in cultures of 90s east coast hip hop, bushido, and popular italian gangster drama, everything in Ghost Dog walks the line between being context specific and timeless. The score by RZA is absolutely…

Forest Whitaker and a great supporting cast made this a most enjoyable watch. Not what I was expecting at all.

This was the film that made Forrest Whittaker a household name and proclaimed him a star! It's also one of my all time favorites.👍🏾

Mafia Characters are type cast as cartoonish Italians, just brilliant. There are other levels in the film. The Ghost Dog itself is mysterious, and the use of the Samurai puts respect for the film way up there. However, the director did…

Men clinging to noble, outdated ideals in a world that no longer cares about such things: that's the concept here. Whitaker shows amazing strength and control in an antihero role that is necessarily secretive and subdued. Silva and Tormey…

Jarmusch is pretty good on two items: 1. Deadpan humour (at least early in the film) 2. Use of geezers for the "mafia", 30's comics (Felix the Cat) and 70's cars for nostalgia for bygone eras. Unfortunately he dips too deeply into cutesy…

Jim Jarmusch's films are all over the map, but this one held up over 20 years later.

I found this one to be a enjoyable film with a great soundtrack too. It would be hard to explain why this is a good one but it is. You should visit this!!

Jim Jarmusch has never been a part of the typical convention, and his Ghost Dog further embodies his unique position in Hollywood. Forrest Whitaker gives his best performance since The Crying Game, embodying the silent Ghost Dog who is…

Themes of the attempt at preventing generational trauma and violence, but mix in an aging-out group of gangsters . Ghost Dog follows the way of the samurai and finds meaning and purpose in protecting the man who saved his life, as well as…

Why is this a well-respected film and how could anyone accept Forest Whitaker as a samurai? Some films get rave reviews but never live up to them.

It took me two days to get through this DVD. After the first hour, I was wondering where it was going, so I watched the second half on day two. Forest Whitaker plays a hit man for his local mafia. He was rescued as a young man by one of…

I am a big fan of Jim Jarmusch. I enjoy his work (not all, but most) as he comes close to crafting film like the French. Jean Pierre Melville (Le Samorai, for example) comes to mind. He is a fairly unique American director, in my opinion.

This is one of Jim Jarmusch’s best movies and he is a fine original film maker. With Jarmusch you must expect to be surprised but you can be sure you will have fun. Casting Forest Whitaker as a mafia hit man is only the start of the…

An incredible film that transcends the format to become music, poetry, or even a painting. It simultaneously speaks of ancient, current, and future times. People & principles live on; they have always been.
