Add a CommentClintonesque story of top White House spin-doctors who distract the gullible American public from a presidential sex scandal by contriving an elaborate misinformation campaign about a completely fictitious war against Albania (strangely prophetic, since the movie was released BEFORE the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke). Why Albania? Why not? A bit slow, but entertaining, cynically interesting, and continuously relevant depiction of "fictitious" governmental machinations. Not recommended for those who cherish the reliably objective and independent veracity of the mainstream media or the pristine virtues of American foreign policy.
I was watching CBC during US Dem. Convention, & the Canadian announcer said, "The Americans are nothing if not great talkers." Ouch! It's good to get the world's perspective on us. The news in U.S. is exactly what is portrayed in Wag the Dog. Now the world is exploding with Muslim fury at the U.S. (over that sacrilegious video).Realizing how simple it is to manipulate public perception,(Wag the Dog) it is quite plausible that the Repubs. are behind the video inflaming Muslims around the globe. The chances of their party winning the election with the likes of Mitt "the 47%" are so slim that they tried to shave the points through voter suppression (it worked in Florida), but courts have struck down all their voter i.d. laws. Romney's leveraged buyouts are take over scams like gangster bust outs: It's Winning at any cost. (Gordon Gekko) So, if you think the Republicans wouldn't start a world war with Muslims to win the election you didn't follow how we got into the Iraq war with lies about WMDs in order to enrich Halliburtin.
Saw this when it first came out and loved it - had to buy it. Seems so plausible, especially when it first came out!. Our family finds it sometimes says "That is so Wag the Dog" when we watch the news regarding the States mostly. Worthy to see for sure.
