Add a CommentThorough and readable story of Hamilton's life, interwoven with events of the Revolution. Gives almost an insider's perspective on those events.
In "Alexander Hamilton," Ron Chernow brings vividly to life the face on the ten dollar bill. From his early life in the Virgin Islands to his role as a Founding Father to his premature death at the hands of arch-rival Aaron Burr, Hamilton is portrayed as a patriot, a doting husband and father, and a man truly committed to making the fledgling United States of America the best nation on the face of the earth. Hamilton's extraordinary accomplishments (of which there were many) as well as his libidinous shortcomings are well detailed by Chernow without turning into a dull, dry textbook. Though it took quite some time to complete, I thoroughly enjoyed "Alexander Hamilton" and am trying to determine which of Chernow's books shall be my next.
