Add a CommentIt's a quick read, but extremely fun and well written. I can't wait to see how the story unfolds and read the things the movie left out. It's extremely rare, when a movie and a book are really good.
Not as good as original japanese manga, but this is an excellent attempt for an english version. I found it difficult to delve into at first, but after some time found the content to be quite humorous. The fact that it was based in Toronto made my inner patriotic-Canadian self squeal with joy. I was happily surprised with how similar the movie is to this manga. A lot of the humour is quick-witted, and sometimes hard to grasp the first time around, though. Overall, this is an easy and fun read, and I definitely recommend checking it out.
Brilliance in ink. Read now.
I watched the movie a few days ago and thought it was okay. The comic is way better though. If you didn't like the movie, at least try reading the book. I wasn't too fond of Scott in the movie because he was so awkward but her didn't come off like that in the comic, it was a lot better.
I loved this book. I'm a huge fan of the movie, and when i found out it was based on the Manga, i was interested. I honestly am amazed at how similar the movie was to the book.
Scott Pilgrim takes conventional storytellying and turns it into a more entertaining and funnier medium. The Scott Pilgrim boks are funny, sexy, clever and very interesting. I have already finished the first book and I am on a desperate search for the second book "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World".
I LUv this book! I think the author did a great job writing it! It really expresses imagination!!!
I liked the movie ok. I heard someone call it Citizen Kane for my generation and I was like, wha?! Then I read it and I found out what I was missing! First off, Scott and Ramona's relationship is so much better in the books. Secondly, Knives got a bad rap in the movie. Third, read the series through to the end. It's killer. Stephen Stills.... what?!
What, hey? This is CanLit too? But it's fun, urban, sarcastic, youthful and slightly anarchic! O'Malley captures the shifty, wandering-wastebag 20s years like no other writer. Got a degree? Great! Good luck finding something to do with it. Might as well steep in video games and roomies' schadenfreude for 2 or 10 years while you try to fashion a life trajectory out of your underwater basket weaving degree. O'Malley's characters make the best out of this economically protracted youth in Toronto, rocking out and killing time at house parties with witty banter and ennui-fueled drama. Fans of the movie should definitely also check out these graphic novels - many of the shots and much of the dialogue in the movie comes straight from the book.
I absolutely LOVE this book. It's witty, humoristic, && A LOT of fuun (: It'll make you laff, laaff, Laugh! The drawing is really creative & this dude's got a great sense of humour ^^ Bwaha. <3 I couldn't put it down. Even people who don't usually like comics will DEVOUUR this book. I highly recommend it ~
