Quotes
Add a QuoteI handed his sword back to him; its weight and balance felt familiar to the touch. I told him that we might be facing fifty million monsters, but those monsters would be facing the gods.
It's fear, dude, just fear and you don't have to be Sun freakin Tzu to know that real fighting isn't about killing or even hurting the other guy, it's about scaring him enough to call it a day. Break their spirit, that's what every successful army goes for, from tribal face paint to the "blitzkrieg" to... what did we call the first round of Gulf War Two, "Shock and Awe"? Perfect name, "Shock and Awe"! But what if the enemy can't be shocked and awed? Not just won't, but biologically can't!
scary and a really good book

Add a CommentIt was enertaining and written as someone who would be documenting past events. I love zombie stuff and this book was quite a bit different than the usual fare in zombie life. Usually the story takes us to the part where we win, and thats the end. This book starts from where we win, and shows us what it might be like after the dust has settled.
this book is awsome
My least favorite of the modern vampire/zombie apocalypse books (and I read them all). I couldn't keep track of the characters, and am a little unsure whether I was even meant to do so. Interesting storytelling style, tells story of zombie apocalypse through interviewing different people involved.
Not a huge zombie fan but thought I'd better do my homework before this movie comes out in the summer. Really enjoyed this book, including the writing style. Liked the mix of fiction and non-fiction when it came to politics, weapons, etc. Even got my husband to read it and he is still talking about it. I dare you to read this and not worry when you are in a room with too many windows...
My dad told me this would be pretty good. So I want to see the exciting documentary of flesh and blood leaching hoards of zombies.
Brooks tries to present the Zombie War from a grand perspective with accounts from many people all over the world, but I found that the voices rang false and the narratives didn't really tie together. There's no forward push to the narrative, no real standout characters. It's ultimately shallow-- but hey, if you like zombies... you won't be disappointed.
Great book. Not gory at all. Some intense images are created; well written. Highly recommend if you are into zombies.
Way different than most zombie apocalypse books. This one actually scared me, not because of the living dead, but because of the way some people in power handled the situation. You start to realize just how expendable to this world you really are.
One of the best zombie apocalypse books out there.
After reading this I seriously am considering a zombie apocalypse safe room with food and supplies for 3 - 5 years. While at times a bit creepy it touches on real social issues and reactions to these kinds of events. There are heroes, villains, profiteers, and those that control what you know or don't know. A great book if you want to become more paranoid and justify some of your conspiracy theories.
