Add a CommentI was like the last person to see this movie. I found it to be sad. It needed more realistic zombies (or whatever those things were). Way too much CGI. Will Smith acting was terrific but I was looking for more action/ horror.
The copy that was checked out to me was not actually a Blu-ray. The Library Blu-ray checkout label was apparently accidentally applied to a Widescreen DVD copy.
The Last Man on Earth, starring Vincent Price, was made in 1964 and is very close to the book, I Am Legend. It is available on the Open Culture website and is worth watching.
THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER! NOTHING CAN BEAT IT!
IS IT BLOODY? I HOPE NOT
I have not seen "The Omega Man" but i did enjoy this film. The version that i own has two discs complete with the alternate ending. I suggest you watch this movie on your HOMETHEATER. There are scenes that have great sounds that make this movie good entertainment. My favorite scene for sound is when Smith's character is standing next to a helicopter saying goodbye to his wife and child. Your room is suddenly filled with the sounds of the helicopter's blades and engine. I did like the way the infected looked in some scenes but in others they looked cartoonish. I normally don't complain about visual effects and just enjoy the movie since it's a part of my collection. I give this movie 4 stars. Good sound, good visual effects, and a good story. Large bowl of popcorn, chips, and a coke.
GREAT Movie!
It was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained. But it was NOT worth a long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box.
The record says this is the two disc set. It is not. I just received it and it is the single disc "widescreen edition" without the alternate theatrical version disc. (Of course, try reporting this to a librarian and all you get is the "what do you want me to do about it?" attitude . . . that is, if they don't accuse you of causing the problem.)
Now while I found this movie to have tons of flaws, Will Smith still managed to pull of some impressive acting. I liked The Omega Man much better than this, and the book is better than both versions, but this one is still worth checking out. I would recommend this to fans of science fiction as well as to fans of Will Smith.
