Summary
Add a SummaryEon is a cripple Dragoneye candidate, but he has the ability to see all twelve energy dragons at will, making him special. Even so, he was looked down upon, but he needed to become the Rat Dragoneye: otherwise, his master would have nothing left, and the friends he has made of some of his master's servants would be doomed to worse conditions than they were already in. But Eon could not give up hope, even if he was actually a 16-year-old girl named Eona and it was forbidden for females to use Dragon magic. If found out, she was as good as dead. But an unseen chance takes Eona on a path of more danger and more risks than she first imagined, and suddenly more than just the fate of her friends and master lie on her shoulders.

I struggled with this book in the beginning as it was not the kind of Dragon book I was accustomed to and the terminology was confusing. I had the benefit of reading this book while listening to the book on CD. I stayed the course as it became more interesting to read through the middle of the book and it had a very strong ending. I will read book 2, Eona – The Last Dragoneye. I do recommend this book to older teenagers. Doctor-at-Bass! T. A.
Interesting plot
this book is awesome, i couldnt wait to read the next book.
I understand why everyone really likes it but I'm not very impressed with the book. The plot was pretty predictable (I probably guessed the ending even before the choosing ceremony started) and all the descriptions did not surprise me. The Asian mythologies and culture can be found in Korean/Chinese historical dramas or books. The political conflict was especially similar to that of historical Korean dramas (grew up watching these so maybe that's why I'm not surprised). Still I recommend this book because it offers numerous empowering messages.
This was one of the best books I have ever read. The zodiac dragons were amazing and the description was really good. I loved Eon's struggle as a totally awesome Heroine
This is an excellent work of very creative fantasy. It's Eastern setting is a nice change of pace from the standard "stock medieval fantasy world" setting. The writing is fast-paced and intense, and the author subtly toys with the ideas of gender and ability. It's fascinating, and a really, really interesting book. I would recommend it to anyone.
Awesome but not totally realistic. Great ending and strong characters. This book is really well put together and detailed.
This book is awesome!!! If you haven't already you should get it! NOW!!!
I looked at this book a few times but never really wanted to read it. I guess it was because the obvious Asia-centric style that was so different from the generic European fantasies. But finally, I got the nerve to read it. And it was amazing. Eona is thrown into a political conflict with almost no safe way out. The tension is always steadily climbing and although it is obvious what will happen in some scenes, the author does a wonderful job making you guess HOW. The Asian style with the dragons were very interesting. The only thing I did not like about the book was the bizarre twist at the end. It might throw you off, but probably not even close enough to make you stop reading. Eona is out now! Go request it or buy it! (P.S. Love how the author doesn't drag it out for on and on until it gets stale. The second book will be the conclusion.) Read other reviews by me if you want to see other teen-oriented books like this one.
