I hate how people think that all twilight lovers will like this book, and that ever is stupid. i like the plot, and it gets WAY more interesting into the series. i read the description and the quote from inside the book, on dark flame, and it sounded like everything is going crazy and im really excited to read it!!!!! (IM NOT A TWILIGHT LOVER!!!!!!!!!) i really like these books.
If you're a Twilight fan, then this is your book.
If you aren't (like me), then go read something else.
Um, well I bought this book because I wanted to get into the whole series. I think it's a good book but I'm not going to continue to buy the rest of the novels, i'll just get them from the library.
I think the story is a bit weird and I found that Alyson Noel's writing was very... limited. It sort of depends on the person if I was to recomend this book to someone.
Also I didn't like most of the characters because everyone was so judgemental and up tight.
I really wasn't drawn to the book by the characters, more by the plot line, so I don't hate the book, but I don't love it either.
I would give it a 2 1/2.
I love this book! All off the books for that matter. And I can't wait for dark flame and I can't see how others don't like this book!!
p.s. Way better than twlight, the charaterd seem more like realistic teens.
It was really similar to Twilight. I guess this book is pretty good and I would recommend it but it isn't the best.
This book was a waste of time! The plot was ok but what I hated was the main character, Ever. She is super paranoid, annoying, clueless, selfish, uptight, immature, over jealous...I could go on forever. Nothing bugs me more in a character than stupidity. The book was very predictable and when something was obvious in the book, it took Ever a long time to understand what was going on. I read the second book to give the series another chance and it gets a little better but Ever still really bugs me.
Its a really good book! I would recommend it to those who like to read twilight sorta thing (like me) hahaha if you liked this you should also try Shiver by Maggie.
How can you NOT be a twilight fan but love just about every other book that's similar? I really loved this book. :] Apr 10, 2010
Yeah takes me a month to realize how this book's idea is really similar to other books.. which I don't like. :O Impossible, mysterious boy who always likes some girl who USED to be popular? Get real.
This book kinda reminded me of twilight...the mystery guy and everything. Overall, it was a good book. :)
i thought it was similar to another book i've read so at first i was like this isn't worth reading, but later i found out that it wasn't like i imagined! It was actually really good.
I read this before another very similar series, and I thought it was great... Then. It pales in comparison to the strong voice and lyrical telling of another forbidden love.
Overall, a fun read.
**semi-spolier alert**
ugh.... for some reason this tory seemed familar. girl meets boy. boy mysterious, dark, and sexy. girl falls for boy because he makes her feel better. boy likes girl. they fall in love but girl cant be with boy because he's different. girl becomes depressed.... any of this ringing a bell for some of you?
wow totally awsome book!!!!!! first I was hooked on twilight , then I was hooked on the house of night, now I'm hooked onthese too!!!!!!!!
While not so brain rotting as reading Twilight, it's nothing new, nothing different, and nothing better. It has far more moments of weakness, than glimmers of prospect, and would take a lot more editing to reach redeemability. Another in the series of recent works by authors who have attained no higher than the emotional maturity of their audiences.
OMG!! this is one of the best books i have ever read!! it is dead tied with the house of night series and twilight series as well!! if u love either one of those series then you should littereally run to your library and search for this novel right now!
What a terrible book! I got bored on the first chapter!
A tad too juvenile and choppy in bits but in others parts it was oozing with potential and had me hooked.
There are times where I wish adult writer's would incorporate teen/ya aspects in their books. Or take a teen book and make it more adult-esque not with smut but with the pacing and depth. This was one of those books. I would've loved to have more meat in this book. Portions felt hallow, especially when it came to some of the plot points. It seemed as though they were tossed it and felt unexpected in plot ploy way.
I especially get annoyed when the lead females don't hold a firm enough line. I found that with Bella in Twilight was way to 'Edward'. Her self-worth seemed tied to his affirmation and love. The same thing occurred with Ever and Damen. She would constantly forgive his behavior and take him back no matter what. I think what bothers me so much about this in teen books is that young female readers may get the wrong impression and that ticks me off immensely.
I loved the concept of Ever being psychic and seeing auras. How she relearned to connect to family and not be so frightened that it'd all end if she opened herself out.
I'm hoping the second book will allow Ever to grow a bit of a spine and we'll get some more depth.
Very mysterious!!!
