A girl is hiding behind the curtain... sitting, only her pink dress and her feet with red nail polish visible. Her face is unknown. "Bad Girls Don't Die". This is by far the only book I've read whose cover is genuinely creepy and have haunted me in my dreams. Written by Katie Alender, the title of this book is called "Bad Girls Don't Die", grabbing the attention of the audience at first glance. It suggests the possible plotline of the novel being about paranormal activities, while stating an absurd fact that bad girls do not die. Relating back to the antagonist, and making hints about the main character, the title couldn't be more perfect. So sit down as comfortably as you can, and grab a blanket while you're at it. Are you ready for a ghost story? Fifteen years old Alexis may not have led a charmed life but she is perfectly fine with her reputation as the pink-haired, rebellious, anti-social chick. Her parents marriage may be dysfunctional but they have managed to get by until now. Her younger sister Kasey may have been eccentric and a little doll-crazy, but that's just who she is. One night after a family argument leaving Kasey in tears, Alexis being the big sister comes to the rescue. But what was supposed to be sisterly bonding quickly turned into the beginning of a nightmare. Shortly after that, Kasey starts to behave more and more unusual. Her blue eyes would turn to green for a moment then snaps back to normal sometimes. She speaks in an old-fashioned manner like "oughtn't", and she would even lose track of time denying anything about her strange performance. At first Alexis thought it was all in her head, a fragment of her imagination, nothing serious. When doors open and close by themselves, water boils on unlit stove, and the air conditioner goes haywire to the point where Alexis can see her breath in the house. She realizes it is all happening right here, right now. She and her family are in grave danger and it may be her sister who wants them dead. How can you convince your sister not to kill everyone including yourself when you know that girl isn't even your sister anymore? Well, Alexis is about to find out. If I could give this book ten stars, I would. It was four years ago when I first read this book, and today as I was rereading it for the countless time, it was as if I was reading it for the first time. It has a odd sense of humor, one moment you could be shivering in fear and the next it won't be what you are expecting at all. The characters, even the supporting ones are well developed with their own back stories that everyone could connect to. The plotline is very original, and even through it's not bloody with gore kind of scary, it's eerie “I dreamed I was standing on an island in a swamp full of alligators…I saw Kelsey swimming towards me, blissfully unaware of the predators…I pulled out a rifle, and I shot any alligator that got close to her. Then Kelsey was with me on the island, braiding my hair and singing me Christmas carols. And a battered doll in a ripped petticoat came out of the water and walked over to us, but Kelsey couldn’t see her. And the doll pointed at Kelsey and looked at me and said Your sister is crazy.” I recommend this book to just about anyone. Read it. IT'S GOOD.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but then I was hooked and couldn't put it down. Great read, thrilling, and keeps you on your toes. I get scared pretty easily and I'll tell you I had goosebumps often. Ending was a bit cheesy but didn't ruin it for me. Definitely worth reading!

THE BEST BOOK EVERRRRR!!!! COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN

Alexis is not a normal girl, what with her pink hair and anti-cheerleaderism. But then her life gets weirder: she tells her sister a story, but one she did not invent: it was as if she was being used to tell it... Then, strange things start happening. The boiler turns on by itself; the house is cold with no air conditioning on. But stranger, her sister's eyes swing from blue to green. And her mood swings are just as bad. Will Alexis have the answer to alll these riddles? Or will the cheerleader, Megan, have to give them to her?

She's backed in a corner, crying. A crowd of kids has gathered around her, and I am one of the crowd. We have planned this for a week, now - since the day we saw her wandering through the graveyard with her doll, and Mildred told us that was a sure sign she was a witch. We can't have a witch in our town.

"Present yourself, kitty," I said loudly. A head popped out from behind the tree. My stomach did three flip-flops before recognizing my younger sister, Kasey. "Present yourself?" Kasey snorted. "Sergent Meow, reporting for duty."

I stood perfectly still, staring up at the house and the dark sky behind it.
