Add a CommentThis book is okay... it's pretty confusing because there is a lack of information for the readers. But the plot is really amazing and the reference to magic was excellent.
good book.
it starts out great a girl in distress and a prince in hiding but lakes a good ending or finish.
As possible Regency Romances go, this one was pretty bad. The characters aren't developed well (except for the main character, and even then she has spontaneous changes of behavior) and occasionally there'll be an event that occurs really fast and out of the blue. I don't feel that it was properly steampunk, either, as it was really just the automaton that would qualify it as steampunk. The world it's set in isn't explained very well (not much else is), so it's a bit difficult to get involved with the story. I felt like it was a kind of wishy-washy book. However, if you like the random romance part, or vague magical adventure, I suppose this is the book for you. You can also compare this to The Magician's Ward, a similar book in terms of plot elements (i.e. magic, victorian lifestyle, romance, mystery, tenacious female protagonist) but everything in that book is considerably more detailed, so you can really get into the story. The reason I didn't like this book is probably because I read The Magician's Ward first.
THIS BOOK IS AWESOME!!! It does leave readers at a cliffhanger so i'm pretty sure their is going to be another book...a must read!
