Classic for a reason! Sure, the special effects look rather cheesy nowadays, but the story, the acting, and the atmospheric sets are still good...not to mention that this movie set the standard for all werewolf movies to come, and invented half the "folklore" that we associate with werewolves today--such as death by silver, an abhorrence of wolfsbane, and that lovely poem: "Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night / May become a wolf when the wolfsbane blooms and the Autumn moon is bright." Worth seeing, if nothing else, in comparison to 2010's remake, "The Wolfman," which won an Oscar for special effects during the first major transformation sequence.
