Summary
Add a SummaryVanessa, 17, wishes that she was more like her confident older sister Justine and was less afraid of the dark and the ocean at her family's Maine summerhouse. Then, shockingly, Justine is found dead on the shore, and although the death is termed accidental, Vanessa decides to travel from their family home in Boston to Maine to search for answers. There, she learns that Caleb, Justine's regular summer boyfriend, is missing, and of the mysterious, sea-related deaths of local men—each, eerily, found smiling. Together with Simon, Caleb's brother, Vanessa begins to unfold intertwined mysteries and searches for the courage to thwart a sinister, potentially deadly plan.

Add a CommentThis book was good, but it was also pretty confusing. There were some things that I think the characters should have figured out sooner, but I was totally clueless as to how the story might end. Other than that, I don't really have too much to say about this book. It wasn't particularly fascinating for me, but if you like mermaid/siren stories, you might like this one. Overall, I probably could have lived without reading this book though.
I loved this book so much! I wasn't sure if it was going to be any good but as I kept reading I fell in love. Amazing book.
I really enjoyed this book. It took such interesting twist and turns,I think the topic can reach a variety of ages and genre lovers. The only thing that I had a problem was that some details were never explained so at the end of the book you are trying to make a connection. But I am excited to read Undercurrent :)
I absolutely loved this, and to be honest, the way it ended was so unexpected and was the one ending that never came to my mind, and that itself says how great and breath taking this book was
I really enjoyed this book. I really wish it ended a bit differently and she explained the whole thing about the picture more, but overall i liked it. I'm really excited for the sequel as well :)
great book, cant wait till next one...new author to watch!!
This book was not at all what I had expected. Instead of being immensely boring and dreading to force myself into finishing it, I was hooked from the beginning. I guess I was not too intrigued by the cover or the description, which just goes to show you that you need to actually pick up a book and read it cover to cover in order to judge it fairly. I loved the main character because she had so much substance, flaws, as well as anxieties that i could relate to. This book was not focused entirely on romance between two characters, which is what made this book very distinguishable from others. I loved the siren aspect to it; very original and intriguing. This book was great, it feels like there is another, or at least there should be one. :)
I enjoy the book immensely. It was the first book and I think it ws awesome.I have a lot of unanswered questions at the end of this book so I cannot wait until the next book comes out where hopefully they get answered.
This is a courageous, self-paced book. It keeps you thinking and wondering the entire time, not letting you get away. Vanessa had always been the shy, quiet one, but when her older sister dies in the summer, she immediately goes searching for clues. She goes off with a boy named Simon, who had also been looking for clues. Many things stops them from getting there, including a girl named Zara. All the clues finally lead them into one scary situation. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a book to surprise them again.
Great story, easy reader, great twists.
