Average scare factor for fifty (plus) year old 'horror' movies. Translation: not scary. Actually very dry, and almost dull. The sequel chose a more politically correct cast -- six inhuman offspring representing varied nationalities as opposed to the original's Aryan-like blondes. They also were virtually mute in the second film, and less of the spooky glowing eyes effect in favor of staring blankly and in unison. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed. Three stars for both.

(Village of the Damned) Prof. Gordon Zellaby (voiceover): "A brick wall... a brick wall... I must think of a brick wall... a brick wall... I must think of a brick wall... a brick wall... brick wall... I must think of a brick wall... It's almost half past eight... brick wall... only a few seconds more... brick wall... brick wall... brick wall... nearly over... a brick wall..."

(Children of the Damned) Tom Llewellyn: "They should study and be studied. Set up an international board of educators to study." Colin Webster: "An international board of educators?!" Tom Llewellyn: "Well, what's the matter -- too civilized? What would you recommend?" Colin Webster: "Simple. Destroy them."
