An great start to an amazing dystopian series, Legend is a gripping, cinematic reading experience. The lead characters are interesting and likeable (surprisingly hard to find in YA) . Legend is a super-fun and easy read that I would recommend to anyone.

An enjoyable adventure but the nicest part of this is how June changes over the story, how she grows and lets each reveal change her for the better. The romance was too fast and pretty forced, but most are in literature. Still put the second book on hold because I want to know what happens next.

Hey Muggle_Witch Blarg! I'm really not sure if I should read this book.

One of the best books I read! A great touch of action, humor, adventure, touching moments, and romance. I cannot describe how terrific and brilliant this story is..guess you'll have to read the book yourself to find out!

omg! it is such an amazing book! I got it as a gift from a teacher and it took me months to actually start it... the first two or three chapters bored me but then once I got the hang of the book, I literally couldn't put it down and got in trouble many times for reading during a lesson in classes. ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT <3

Well done, Marie Lu! I like what you did with this dystopian title. It's a slick little story with lots of action and two engaging main characters. In a world that has been split (shades of the former USA) the population must take a trial at 10 years of age. Either you pass and go into the military, go into a desperately boring grunt job or ????? June and Day butt heads as their world spirals out of control...is the plague in their world caused by natural causes, or something more sinister? Great first title to what promises to be a really good trilogy. If you liked Hunger Games and Divergent, you're sure to love this too!

A great read that is fast paced and fun. The characters are believable, but the ideas are a little mimics of apocalyptic literature.

Legend tells the story of a two remarkable 15-year-olds, Day and June, living on West cost of the United States now known as The Republic. This book instantly reminded me of Aladdin because Day is from a very poor area of The Republic and steals from the rich to help out his family and community. June on the other hand, has grown up in one of the wealthiest areas and has everything she could ask for and a secure future. Their paths suddenly cross after June's brother is murdered during a hospital break-in attempt by Day. The Republic's military uses June's thirst for revenge and has her track Day and bring him to justice. However, June soon finds out her safe world has not been what it appeared to be at all.

In 2130, the Republic rules the western part of post-apocalyptic America and grooms their most promising young into soldiers. One of their elite is fifteen-year-old June, a military prodigy and the only person to score a perfect 1500 at the Trials. On the opposite side of town, fifteen-year-old Day lives on the streets and fights injustice on his own terms. His remarkable ability to make the Republic look bad has landed him on the Republic’s most wanted list. When a new strain of the plague appears, Day’s brother is infected and his family is quarantined. Since only the privileged can afford the luxury of medicine, Day’s family has no choice but to let the plague take its course. In a desperate attempt to secure a vial of the vaccine for his younger brother, Day breaks into the laboratory at the local hospital. However, things go terrible wrong and Day is pursued by Republic Captain Iparis, June’s brother. When Captain Iparis is found dead, Day is the prime suspect. Vowing to bring her brother’s killer to justice, June plans a covert operation to flush out Day. While undercover, June meets a mysterious young man who saves her from an enraged mob of gamblers. As she discovers his true identity and the Republic’s dark secrets, June must make a decision that will change her life forever.
