Very Good Entertaining movie.

Very good movie. I liked this movie and Thor the best out of all the Avenger movies. I cried.

I've really warmed to this movie after a couple of viewings, I think it can even crack my top ten of comic book inspired films. Sure, the war-within-a-war plot is kind of cheesy and the language and technology used completely ludicrous, but that's the whole point: a heroic re-imagining of humanity's darkest days. Also, the Chris Evans' "transformation" effect is one of the most memorable I've seen on screen, and the supporting cast is solid, particularly the always amazing Stanley Tucci and Hugo Weaving. Thor may still be my favourite Avenger, but Captain America may now be my favourite "Avengers" prequel.

Before the assemble of the Avengers, before the establishment of S.H.I.E.L.D, before Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye, before the rise of the super heroes-There was Captain America, the country's first savior. Released in the summer of 2011, directed by Joe Johnston, starring Chris Evans and Hugo Weaving, "Captain America" was based on the popular Marvel comics...Enough said, history was about to be made. You may ask, what's so different about this film? Haven't we already seen way too many superhero movie in the past decade? "Captain America" as the name suggest is simply America's greatest captain, a symbol of freedom and persistence, he doesn't have any superpowers only his will to never give up. He may be portrayed as physically one of the weakest superheroes, but it was what was on the inside that got him the title, "Captain", it was also what that made him the most "human" of them all. This movie opened up a whole new perspective of superheroes in a gut wrenching, emotionally-stirring way. Hollywood blockbuster packed with action, humour, sentiment, and enough reference to its original comic, "Captain America" was a movie that lives up to its name. The story took place during World War II, it was 1942 in America and almost every living healthy male had selected to fight in the war to defend his country, all with the exception of Steve Rogers. He was the skinny boy that get beat up a lot, the one who everybody looked down on, the one who was rejected many times for military service, and labeled "unfit". But he was also the guy who always stand up even after he was knocked down the hundredth time, the guy who's willing to sacrifice himself in order to protect the strangers around him, and finally Dr.Erskine saw through that and recruited him for a top secret research project that offers to transform his sickly body to the maximum human potential. A superhero know as Captain America. As the war went on, the world is threatened by the evil HYDRA organization led by Johann Schmidt (the Red Skull), and it's up to Captain America and his crew to stop Schmidt before he could wipe out the entire planet. A story of an ordinary man with determination, courage, and virtue that saved the world, when the Red Skull asked him what makes him so special? He replied "Nothing. I'm just a kid from Brooklyn." He was wrong, he was the best thing that happened to America. Having never to read any comics, I had no idea what I had gotten myself into when I pressed play on the "Captain America" CD, and after two hours I was completely blown away! There was not a single flaw I can say about the film, the acting, directing, music, pacing...Everything was simply brilliant. I cheered, laughed, held my breath, and cried because of the Cap, it was a story that filled my heart with unexpected warmth. Who knew an action motion picture could provoke so much affection? You'd be surprised. The movie was emerged from the Marvel comic called "Captain America", so it was certain to have the same title as the authentic comic. And why did the creator first named it "Captain America"? Almost every superhero movie and/or comic has the title of its protagonist, so it's only nature for a tale centered on a "super soldier" to have the name of the main character himself. He was the true hero who embodied the spirits of America, and the movie had done justice to that.

Nothing great here. Thought it was stupid for the Red skull group to have all that special weaponry. It was like rather than have to make historical weaponry, it was easier to take a modern vehicle and dress it up as a special ww2 weapon. A long movie to sit through.

Good movie. Hugo Weaving is a good villain, and even though he's in heavy makeup for a good portion of the movie you can still see his style. Good opening movie that explains the beginnings of the superhero universe that has been created.

In March 1942, Nazi officer Johann Schmidt and his men invade Tønsberg, Norway, to steal a mysterious Tesseract[a] possessing untold powers. Meanwhile, in New York City, Steve Rogers is rejected for World War II military duty because of various health and physical issues. While attending an exhibition of future technologies with his friend Bucky Barnes, Rogers again attempts to enlist. Overhearing Rogers' conversation with Barnes about wanting to help in the war, Dr. Abraham Erskine allows Rogers to enlist. He is recruited in the Scientific Strategic Reserve as part of a "super-soldier" experiment under Erskine, Col. Chester Phillips, and British agent Peggy Carter. Phillips is unconvinced by Erskine's claims that Rogers is the right person for the procedure, but relents after seeing Rogers commit an act of self-sacrificing bravery. The night before the treatment, Erskine reveals to Rogers that Schmidt underwent an imperfect version of the procedure and suffered side-effects.
