Add a CommentThis book just didn't do it for me. Firstly, there's the boarding school idea which has been done many times over. Then there's the idea of eliminating others to survive, but it ends up turning Annelise into a cold-blodded killer. Overall, not something I would reccomend.
I'm really sure not what to think about this book. It's fast paced but full of jumbled ideas... there's a bit of Vampire Academy with the school set up and the classes/training... there's a bit of the Hunger Games with the callous & senseless death among the initiates... there a bit of the House of the Night in the meangirl sabotage... and finally there's a bit of the Gallagher Academy with the 007ish escapades. Ultimately I don't have a good feeling about Annelise and Ronan since he can manipulate her emotions with a single brush of his fingers. I think this series has potential, but I won't know until I read the second book (Vampire Kisses) coming out in Feb 2012.
