This is simply one of those series where BMB is at his best.

ugh they ruined spiderman forever

I really loved the first volume of Ultimate Spider-Man. Miles is such a refreshing hero - a sort of everyday type kid who can be unintentionally hilarious at times. I can't really speak to how he fits in with the Spider-Man 'verse, as I'm not as familiar with it, but as a standalone graphic novel, I'd really recommend this one. It's a lot of fun so far and I'm looking forward to more of Miles.

Once again, as he did at the beginning of the original Ultimate Spider Man series, Bendis shows that he can write a terrific story about a superpowered teen. And the art work sure doesn't hurt! Marvel should sign this person to an exclusive contract and never let her go!

It wasn't really that bad guys, come on. If you're a fan of the series and want to see the events leading up to Peter's death, then by all means, read it. If you aren't a fan, then give it a try. geez.

Awful. As a writer, Bendis gets worse and worse by the issue, it often seems, and that's certainly the case here. To begin, he writes like a juvenile, has no sense of plotting and pacing. He makes his characters talk too much- not always a bad thing, if a better writer is doing the work- but Bendis is not a good writer. His endless dialogue doesn't actually say anything of consequence, and he's entirely unable to write a character with their own distinct voice. Instead they come across as little more then a parrot for Bendis-chatter. Add to that the fact that the art in this compilation is at best mediocre and at worse atrocious, and I'd say avoid this garbage at all costs.

The story about mysterious relic that Blackcat stole from Kingpin was interesting but the rest of the story was boring.
