Summary
Add a SummaryThey called her Water Claire. When she washed up on their shore, no one knew that she came from a society where emotions and colors didn’t exist. That she had become a Vessel at age thirteen. That she had carried a Product at age fourteen. That it had been stolen from her body. Claire had a son. But what became of him she never knew. What was his name? Was he even alive? She was supposed to forget him, but that was impossible. Now Claire will stop at nothing to find her child, even if it means making an unimaginable sacrifice. Son thrusts readers once again into the chilling world of the Newbery Medal winning book, The Giver, as well as Gathering Blue and Messenger where a new hero emerges. In this thrilling series finale, the startling and long-awaited conclusion to Lois Lowry’s epic tale culminates in a final clash between good and evil. By the way, it's the fourth book to the Giver series.

Add a CommentI would definitely suggest reading The Giver, Gathering Blue and Messenger (in that order) before getting into this book. Although each of the books in the series can be taken as stand-alone novels, they provide a good exposition and background that allow the reader to fully understand the story and conflicts behind Son.
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVED this book! What other books did Lowry write?
my grande 4 and 5 teacher read the first three books and i loved them. But this book is also one of my favorites too.
what's the ordeer of the series? i read the giver already and i want to know what books to read next:)
A beautiful book about a mother's love and the battle over evil. Not for children.
I truly enjoyed the book. I found it very difficult to put it down, even for one evening. I love Lois Lowry's books and I am so happy that this one has a happy ending.
This book was good, but I felt that it could have been better. bethshaw99 sums it up. The book was all about Claire, but then Gabe has to fight the bad guy. I Think this series could have had five books, the next to last one about Claire, and then where Gabe fights the bad guy. But stil agreat book.
I love how the library took my order for this book! It was great! I loved it! The character of Claire was so sad. But I still love this ending. :)
In true Lowry style this is an excellent conclusion to the Giver series! With her usual caliber of writing it was a pleasure to see most of the ends tidied up from the first three books to a satisfying conclusion!
The other three books must be read before this one. It is a book that is very hard to put down and is beautifully written.
