A pleasant and interesting read, even though it's hard to explain why.

This is a nice stand alone by Charles Todd. (mother and son writing team) It is a Christmas story but remember the main character is a WW1 nurse so it is not all about snowflakes and gentle wishes. Bess Crawford makes a cameo.
