Add a Comment"The Where, The Why, and the How" pairs fantastically quirky art with descriptions of 75 "wondrous mysteries of science," largely within the realms of physics, astronomy, geology and biology. The book begins by asking what came before the Big Bang and then moves on to comparatively trivial matters like why pigeons' heads bob when they walk (not exactly a "wondrous mystery). Using no more than a couple hundred words, the authors do engagingly describe the problems currently puzzling scientists. But the text only provides half the fun; the illustrations range from literal to bizarre, from modern print to comic strip to japanese painting. This compilation injects a little wonder into our lives and reminds us that we don’t have all the answers.
A really great idea commingling art and science! There were times I wish there was more text to go with the concepts. Good for a quick browse.
