I recommend all of McMahon's books, but this is her best book so far. I loved the main character and the story is gripping. She really keeps you guessing until the end as to who the killer is.

"Twenty-five years ago, 13-year-old Reggie Dufrane's mother fell victim to a serial killer (known as Neptune) who amputated one hand from each of his victims, leaving it on the police department's steps and posing the bodies around town. But while Reggie's mum's hand was delivered, her body was never found, and Neptune disappeared. Now a successful architect, Reggie must confront her past after she learns that her mother has been found alive. Worse than the fact that her mother can't tell her anything about Neptune is the possibility that he may be killing again. Though the suspense is nothing to sneeze at, it's the "full-blooded characters that make this thriller stand out from the serial-killer pack" (People)."
