“Tempestuous” is supposed to be a modern-day version of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”. But Shakespeare would hardly recognize it. There are so many elements in it, including a series of robberies, a crazed attempt at a birthday party and what reads suspiciously like ideas from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “Emma” and “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”. It comes off as being more like a screwball comedy than anything else.

It all comes together, somehow. But its giddy, flighty tone and hodgepodge subject matter make it a decidedly lesser entry into the Twisted Lit series.
