I love reading about this era. This one however falls flat on its well made up face. Not really a mystery, I could guess the surprise shortly into the book, and not really historical fiction, it adds details that are truly pedantic, I found it a quick dull read. And then to find out it is a rehash of a Josephine Tey book, I felt robbed. As should the publishing house that bestowed its award such an undeserving candidate.
