When you're older, if you don't like people or they don't like you, you can just avoid each other. Adults have cubicles, gated communities, and country clubs, and they can screen their calls. If someone gives you a wedgie or a swirly at the office, you can call security. You can have the cops charge them with assault. But kids my age? We have to go to school and spend all day, every day with bullies who want to insult us or stuff us into lockers or both. And if we don't show up, that's when the cops get called.
