Add a CommentA perennial storytime favourite.
Not sure if a 3 year old could understand the abstract humor of pulling animals out of the dog's mouth but my grandson got it and found the book quite funny.
Hilarious. Terrific read aloud for storytime. Kids love hearing what animal george sounds like and seeing what will come out next. Also good for kindergarten up to grade 2 - the ending leaves readers thinking, and could lead to a discussion or a writing assignment.
My "other" most favorite story time title (for the moment, anyway!)
This is one of my favorite story time books for preschoolers - adults always get a kick out of it as well!
My all-time favorite picture book. George's mother asks him to bark and George has many responses, but none of them are barks! Jules Feiffer's incomparable, deceptively simple illustrations make this a fun one to read with your child or in story times. Children will chime in with their own animal noises too and you'll be left wondering, why won't George bark?!
Children will laugh at this funny story about a dog who can't seem to bark. When Mother dog asks him to say, "arf" he says "quack" etc.
