Add a CommentAn excellent tool for new writers of fiction!
Great book, very interesting reading.
The best Stephen King book I've read. Full of great stories, energy, honesty, and insights into his life... I would like to acquire this book for my own collection. I'd love to write about my own life this way some day.
I like Mr. King so much. This book is well-written and engaging. I feel like I got to know him a little better, and got to know myself as a writer better, too.
Not meant to be a step-by-step book on becoming an author, but rather a fireside chat on what started it for him, and continues to egg him on. I think King could read you a grocery list and still be entertaining!
A great book on the process of story telling. If you want to be a writer, read this book - and make sure you take time to write too :)
This is a great read for any writer who's just starting out. It's great for morale. But it's very padded-out and flabby, and although his conversational prose makes every page easy to read (and hard to put down,) the real content of the book can be summed up as such: 1) Read a lot. 2) Write every day. Pick a number of words and don't stop until you get there. 3) Don't be afraid of rejection. Keep trying. 4) Check Strunk and White's ELEMENTS OF STYLE for grammar. There, I just saved you two hours! (PS - if you're a beginning writer, good luck and don't give up! Try these - Robert McKee's STORY and Hemingway's A MOVEABLE FEAST.)
Excellent livre si tu veux connaître la vie d'un auteur; les joies, les enjeux et les conséquences. Un peu cru à l'occasion mais toujours amusant et informatif, je recommande fortement à quiconque qui désire mettre plume sur papier.
More than just the nuts and bolts of writing it also answers why you write. Stephen's honesty makes this a great read.
