Enjoyed it, I found it read similiar to a J. Steinbeck, a poor but honest family who cannot get a break from the weather or the times.

I relived my farm childhood through this book. Great insight as to how a child would view the hard work and social interactions in the family and small town. Woven into it is a violent conflict with the itinerant farmworkers hired to help with the harvest.

Maybe it's just me but I have attempted to complete this books three times,... with no success. I know it's not a classic Grisham,... but I think I was hoping for something that would still grab my interest more that it did.
