Add a CommentA great movie. Its true that some of the characters are beyond the realm of belief as they are are not your stereotypical immoral, sleazy politician (tragic really) but if you want to believe that there are honest politicians out there then this is the movie for you.
Gary Oldman's performance is brilliant. However, this Democrat-leaned political thriller turned out cheesy-Hollywood-fairy tale. The President Jeff Bridges and VP nominee Joan Allen are too good to be true. In reality, the interest group with big money is the king maker, and the politicians serve them. In this movie, such interest group is non-existence; President knows everything and he makes right decisions. This movie could be a truly first-rate political thriller, if not simplified as good honest politicians vs dishonest bad ones.
