Average Rating: 4 stars out of 5.
Ghost Dog
East meets West in this hip-hop infused samurai-gangster story in which a professional killer goes by the name of Ghost Dog and lives by the age-old code of the samurai. When Ghost Dog's code is dangerously betrayed by the dysfunctional mafia family that occasionally employs him, he must find a way to defend himself without breaking the code of the samurai.

Wonder why it did not get its rightful accolades before DVD/VCR release, a for hire black hitman raising homing pigeons on a roof top for the Italian mobs? The reviews at rotten tomatoes:

Great movie. Tarentino-esque. Really original plot and memorable characters. RZA soundtrack.

One of director Jim Jarmusch's most stylish films. In it, he manages to mash up his obvious love of gangster films, samurai films, and hip hop music. Whittaker is brilliant as an unflappable assassin who lives by a higher code. The soundtrack, created by RZA of Wu-Tang clan, is fantastic. I also love Jarmsuch's portrayal of a mafioso family in decline.
