Parenting with an Accent: The Joys and Challenges of Raising Kids as an Immigrant

Masha Rumer is an immigrant, parent, and writer who just published a memoir and research book about immigrant families, Parenting with an Accent (Beacon Press, Nov. 2021). She will discuss her findings, based on over sixty interviews she conducted with immigrant speakers of eighteen different languages across the country and with experts in bilingualism, psychology and childcare. The presentation will include a reading and a lively community discussion about balancing multiple cultures, bilingualism, parenting traditions and more.
