Description

The Diversity of Succulents
Speaker: Judy Hecht

Learn about succulent care, propagation, growth habits, and design. Discuss the many ways to take advantage of all the wonderful attributes of these very versatile plants and how to help them thrive. We will look at planting in pots and in the ground, various ways of propagating, how to avoid disease and what to do if your plant gets one. We will also talk about design techniques for succulent gardens and succulent pots.

Bring your questions, we’ll bring answers!

Judy Hecht has had a lifelong love of plants and gardening. One of her earliest memories is planting portulaca seeds with her father and being delighted when they grew and bloomed. She began growing succulents in the 1980's and became a Master Gardener in 2007. She was recruited to the succulent team when she moved to Santa Clara in 2016 and is in charge of the succulent tunnel house and succulent demonstration garden at Martial Cottle Park. The Martial Cottle Park is open for visitors on Wednesday or Saturday mornings with a succulent sale on the third Saturday of the month. See:[
