Chinese Medicine for Chronic Pain

7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Los Altos Library

Description

According to the CDC, in 2023, 24.3% of adults had chronic pain. In this engaging talk, Dr. Julia Lee will discuss natural reasons why the body manifests pain, what the healing process for pain may look like, strategies to cope with pain during the healing process, and beneficial attitudes that support pain relief. Some common areas of pain (such as knee, lower back, shoulder, neck, headache) will be discussed from the perspective of meridians running through those areas, as well as organs that pain can be referred from. This talk is also suitable for caregivers and family members of those with chronic pain, to learn more about how to communicate with and support loved ones going through pain.

Julia Lee, a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, runs a clinic in Santa Clara called South Bay Internal Healing and a South Bay service organization called The Healing Mountain where she serves the community through health and wellness.

This program is part of the Santa Clara County Library District's celebration of Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AANHPI).
