Start Smart is aimed at helping newly licensed or soon-to-be-licensed teen drivers (ages 15 to 19) become more aware of the responsibilities that accompany the privilege of being a licensed California driver. Learn collision avoidance techniques and how to identify collision-causing elements such as excessive speed, driving under the influence, and distracted driving.
Teens (and their parents/guardians) are invited to attend and participate in this free 2-hour long Start Smart class, led by Officer Moises Moncayo from the Gilroy-Hollister California Highway Patrol (CHP) office. Parents may attend alongside their teens, but are not required to. A certificate of attendance will be issued to all teens who attend. Register to receive an email reminder, or just walk in!
For accessibility accommodations (ex. ASL), please fill out the online form at sccld.org/accessibility 7+days prior to the event. If you need assistance with the form, speak with a staff member at your local library, call (408) 540-3945, or email us at ask@sccl.org.
