Summer 2026 Plant a Seed, Read: DJ Workshop with Yuka Yu

6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Campbell Library

Description

Whether you already DJ or are a complete beginner, this course is a great place to get started!

Learn how to download and organize your music collection, use Rekordbox to prepare your playlists, and mix harmonically. Then the focus will be on preparing your set, and you'll learn about the different formats and how to download and organize your music library. You'll be able to get your hands on the controls and learn how to load your tracks. From there, we will go over how the DJ equipment is set-up and go over some options so that if you decide to buy your own, you’ll be set to play in no time. You will also have a chance to play a track on a Pioneer DDJ mixer!

Yuka is an accomplished DJ, having played in premiere nightclubs and other venues all over London, East Asia, and North America, and she has played alongside artists like Cosmic Gate, The Crystal Method, Audien, Poolside, LP Giobbi and Eric Prydz. Yuka's musical style blends house, acid, psychedelic and Asian rhythms, drawing inspiration from artists like Aphex Twin and Björk. Her sets weave unique stories and take listeners on a genre-mixing, multicultural musical journey.
