Description

Book Jacket: Harlem Rhapsody

In June, the Adult Book Discussion Group will disuss   the novel Harlem Rhapsody by Victoria Christopher Murray. (2025) Jessie Redmon Fauset becomes the first female editor of The Crisis in 1919, despite rumors of her ongoing affair with W.E.B. DuBois. Determined to prove herself, Jessie makes The Crisis one of the pre-eminent black magazines of the Harlem Renaissance, and her success means all prominent black American authors are eager to publish their work, there. But Jessie’s professional success comes with a high personal cost.

The Adult Book Discussion group meets on the Third Wednesday morning of each month at 11 am, and on the third Thursday evening at 7pm in Room 201B Adults of all ages are welcome. All meetings are sponsored by The Friends of the Cupertino Library.
