This was pure junk! How could you try to get on the next step and NOT see you were being Conned? To follow, one would need an immature mind and have a need to get loved, by anyone!

A very thorough accounting of Scientology from its beginnings with L Ron Hubbard to present day operations under the vengeful direction of David Miscavige. Wright includes evidence of Miscavige violently attacking members, forcing them…

An evenhanded look at Scientology. Wright seems to admire many aspects of Hubbard’s creation of his own religion, but doesn’t minimize the damage done by this cult. Three stars because the book jumps around from person to person so much…

Yikes. Reading this book made me feel ill. The extent to which members, dissidents and apostates alike are stalked, tormented and blackmailed, and to which the organization infiltrates an astounding and diverse range of industries and…

After watching the HBO documentary of the same name, I developed an insatiable curiosity for Scientology that I hoped this book could appease. Going Clear by Lawrence Wright definitely answered all my burning questions, as well as my…

This was a very interesting look into the history of Scientology. As someone who didn't know a whole lot about the organization, it gives a thorough history of its creator L. Ron Hubbard and how the organization was cultivated over…

Really interesting and thorough look at Scientology. I'm surprised no mention of Leah Remini. I would imagine as vocal as she has been against Scientology that her and her family would be a major target or source of contention.…

" in the letter, hubbard reprimanded his followers for straying from the path he had laid out for them: ' when somebody enrolls, consider he or she has joined up for the duration of the universe--never permit an 'open-minded' approach. …

L Ron Hubbard was a man of intellect, imagination, and great determination. How else to describe a man who invented a religion from his own mind, and who sustained that effort over decades? He was also a money-grubbing liar and philanderer…

I have read many books on Scientology and this is one the best. I recommend the documentary. If you are looking for a lighthearted story, read Leah Remini's book Troublemaker. This book is not for the faint of heart.

This is a challenging read, but engrossing and well written. Especially fascinating is the life and times of L. Ron Hubbard, a topic which is thoroughly examined here, and not covered in other Scientology tell-alls. There are so many names…

This was a tough read. When you read a sci-fi book, it might be scary, disgusting, or suspenseful, but at some level you know it’s fictional and you will be OK. The problem with this book is that the subject matter is awful but true. You…

A massive and fully researched whopper of a book, GOING CLEAR illustrates the Church of Scientology and all that which surrounds it in exacting detail. It's a superb albeit longish read, but if you're interested in hearing the truth, this…

There IS a sucker born every minute. This organization gives me the chills. I hate religion, but this isn't even religion; It's a strange cult that uses and abuses people. It's very well written and researched. I recommend it.

Yikes. If you are old enough to recall the "Today Show" interview and the "Oprah Show" couch-jumping stuff and came away wondering what the hell was up with Tom Cruise, this book puts it all in chilling perspective. It's not about Cruise,…

This may be the best, weirdest, most jaw dropping book I have read in a long time. It may have ruined me for fiction. The truth is way weirder than fiction can ever be, except for Irvine Welsh of course. I thought growing up Mormon was bad…

Having lived in Clearwater for three years, I'd already learned about the abuse and mistreatment many Scientologists suffer at the hands of their leadership. Working only a couple of blocks from Flag, it was strange seeing all of the…

The lengths the Church of Scientology will go to suppress its critics is mind bending. Its long history of anti-gay attitudes despite its headquarters being in the most progressive city in America should catch the reader's attention. It's…
