this book is good I love this book

I'm from Canada, so I'm used to reading the original version and its neat to hear how they changed it in the American version. However it's surprising to hear some words they didn't change, which are so clearly British. The reader does wonderful character voices. I love that he uses a Scottish accent for Professor McGonagall and the sorting hat. I also love that he sang the school song. A very enjoyable "read."

I felt like I must have been about the last person on earth to not have read this book. I was staying away because I'm not a big fan of fantasy but I thoroughly enjoyed the story read by Jim Dale. Will definitely continue with the series.

This is a must listen to for anyone who loves a well read story. You will be begging Stephen Fry to narrate your life after hearing just the first few paragraphs.

I'm a baby of the 90's, so I grew up within this magical world and I consider these characters my oldest friends. This is the first time I've listened to the audiobook, and Jim Dale's narration is just as fantastic as everyone says. This is a great format to re-read the books in or experience them for the first time!

If you want to revisit the Harry Potter series this is a great start via audiobook.

Order it today!
Jim Dale creates a superb narration for this magnificent series.
The Sorcerer’s Stone is the first in this seven-part saga,
the first British fantasy novel ever to compare with Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.
This series has single-handedly restored the value of reading
to an entire generation of young people,
for which the author has been quite properly awarded both
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire
and The Order of the Companions of Honour.
And speaking of things British,
the UK audiobook is read by Stephen Fry
and is equally as engaging and entertaining as Jim Dale’s version.
Highly recommended.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to get to the Harry Potter series. For some reason I always stood far enough away from the crowd to keep me skeptical. Boy, am I ashamed now. This book was absolutely fantastic. The humor was sharp, the mental images were clear, and the voice was distinct.

It's taken me some time, but consider me a believer in the Potterverse... I'm all in!

Jim Dale to the rescue! As a children's librarian, I've felt ashamed that I could never get through this classic. I tried reading the first chapter several times over the years, and it was just meh. A colleague recommended listening to the audiobook, narrated by Jim Dale. Hooray! I finally got through it - and I loved it. Now I finally get all the Harry Potter cultural references and jokes! Thank you, Jim Dale!

This is the first and one of the best Harry Potter books in the series. This first book introduces the reader to the fantasy world of a boy named Harry Potter who's an orphan as his parents were killed by an evil wizard Voldemort. This is a very interesting book as it explains about Harry's thoughts and secrets. We are introduced to different characters like his friends; Ron and Hermione. This book has a great action plan at the end and love how the points gained at the end changed the results from Gryffindor being last to being first. It's a story basically about good vs evil. It's full of fantasy and magic for all children. This first book urges me to read the whole series. Overall I recommend reading this book for all ages but particularly children.

Harry Potter's evil aunt and uncle keep him in a closet under the stairs with barely enough food. One day, he ends up conversing with a snake and a mysterious letter from a school addressed to Harry is delivered by an owl. Then ten more letters. Then 100. Then 1000. All delivered by owls. His aunt and uncle are determined to not let him read one of them. Little did he know that his life was about to change forever.

The Harry Potter series are a bit hard to read, but pretty cute and cozy. The Sorcerer’s Stone isn’t my favourite but it’s a wonderful beginning to the series, with Rowling opening up the wizarding world to new readers. Harry Potter himself is a very good protagonist who has confidence issues, and is a little indecisive, making him unique and not bland. I’ve read this book many times, it’s enjoyable and extremely popular.

Great reader. I hadn't read the Harry Potter books and wanted to see what they were all about. The descriptions of the aunt and uncle and Dudley were hilarious. Great characters. A little stereotypical in that it uses Halloween characters - witches, wizards, goblins, riding on broomsticks. The rest of the book was so creative it seems like she could have made up new types of characters instead of borrowing from pop culture. But overall, really fun to read and I can't wait to read the next one!

I only managed to read Chapter One of the first Harry Potter book. The story just did not capture my interest or imagination, so I decided to listen to the audiobooks. They were fantastic! Jim Dale, the reader, is amazing. It's unbelievable that one person can become a whole cast of weird and wonderful characters. I highly recommend them for anyone like me who was not captivated by the books or fans who want more Harry Potter.

Jim Dale's readings of the Harry Potter books are all worth a listen - I have listened innumerable times to these! And I do prefer him as a reader to even the British audio HP books that are read by the great Stephen Fry, Jim Dale does individual voices for different characters, it is superb and fun.
