If you're looking for a fun read find another book.
This book is filled with unpleasant people. There is no protagonist to like. Everyone is so flawed that it left a bad taste in my mouth. I almost liked Tirza, the daughter, but even she was dreadful. Then they never explain at the end what happened to her.

If you are looking for a satisfying read, look somewhere else.

This is a well written book about an icky man. His wife is icky too. I went through the entire book without finding a single person to like.
