Not one of Coonts best. Its a bit long and rambling, and difficult to follow, especially the parts where the focus is on spies. I finished it, but had to work hard at it. I can't really recommend it.
The Minotaur bounces between being a spy thriller and a novel about the development of an attack aircraft with related behind the scenes ministrations. Surprisingly, even though this novel is more than 25 years old, it works as a retro novel. With television series like The Americans and Halt and Catch Fire set in the 80s, The Minotaur doesn’t have any glaring disconnects that prevent a current reading. The novel is a bit too long and without a totally satisfactory denouement. However, it does move and is well written for the most part.

I didn't like it that much. It felt like the author could not make up his mind whether the book was about testing and developing new planes or about a Cold War spy intrigue. The result was the mix of the two and I didn't think it worked
