Great premise, well told. Surprises and complications keep the story consistently entertaining. Worth reading by fans of British fantasy. The portrayal of Native Americans and other characters shows the limitations of Nesbit's time.

This book is so wonderful! I think it would be appropriate for any age because I appreciates all of Nesbit's snarky humour, but a child would appreciate the story on a whole. This would be an excellent book to read to your kids. It even comes with a secret hidden moral. So good.

The last thing Cyril, Anthea, Robert, Jane, and their baby brother expect to find while digging in the sand is a Psammead?an ancient Sand-fairy! Having a Sand-fairy for a pet means having one wish granted each day. But the fivesome doesn?t realize all of the trouble that wishes can cause.
