The Battle of Waterloo --- by Jeremy Black. I’ve got to admit it. Robert Cornwell has spoiled. With his swashbuckling adventures of Richard Sharpe, any history would be hard pressed to keep my nose pressed between the covers. Sorry, Jeremy. Maybe I was having an off day.

A good narrative of the Battle of Waterloo. The book is not overloaded with details of the actual fighting. In addition the author provides some insight on the impact of this defeat of Napoleon. Worth reading for anyone who has interest in the event..

So...I would've never picked it up if it wasn't for my social project of Waterloo. But for something that I reluctantly read, it was a pretty interesting read - and thankfully, clear and concise information. It actually made sense and I could follow the sequence of events pretty well.
