Four best friends, Morris, Rudi, Ivan and Beck have a sacred pledge – if one of them gets drafted to the war, they would all be drafted, even if they weren’t serving together. When one of the boys, Rudi, is drafted, each of the boys enlists in a different branch of the service. Morris is haunted by nightmares about Vietnam, visions of “torn flesh and burned flesh and the end of everything we know, all dying there in the scorching jungle of Vietnam.” Morris chooses the Navy where he makes it his personal mission to watch over his friends. This first novel in a new series on the Vietnam War is action packed with graphic detail making the reader feel they are in the heart and heat of Vietnam during the war. A must read for readers who are fascinated with war.
