Caterina (Cat) DeLuca owns the Pants on Fire Detective Agency. Detective work comes naturally to her as a member of an extended Italian police family. A video gone viral shows up on the internet with her assistant, Cleo Jones, threatening to kill her cheating husband. Cleo’s husband is found dead, and Cleo is the prime suspect. Warned to stay away by Captain Bob, the Chicago police chief and a family friend, Cat becomes entangled in the investigation. With the help of her FBI boyfriend and two former clandestine operatives, Cat delves into a 20-year-old cold case and uncovers evidence of blackmail. The investigation comes to a fast paced, suspenseful conclusion as Cat prepares to be maid of honor at her cousin’s wedding.

An easy read that reminds me greatly of Stephanie Plum. the kind of novel good for a rainy afternoon

Another fun female PI series. "Cat" has her own agency "Pants on Fire Detective agency" because she mainly tracks down lying and cheating husbands. This time she's in the middle of a murder investigation. Her family (mainly cops) tries to help her and it all gets resolved in the end with bruises and laughter along the way. A very enjoyable read.

If you like Janet Evanovich please try “Sticks and Stones” written by three Larsen sisters (Julianne, Kristen and Kari). Cat (Caterina) de Luca runs the “Pants on Fire Detective Agency”. Most of her work involves catching philandering husbands. Cat puts all of her cases on hold to help her assistant Cleo, who is accused of killing her ex-husband Walter. Cat is also a suspect in this case as she was the one who found Walter dead in his home office. Cat’s family reminds me of the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”.Cat’s mom’s withholds cannoli when she is disappointed in her daughter and all of Cat's relatives are police officers. A hilarious, action-packed mystery.
