The story takes plavce mainly in England, in the mid 1400's. She is married to the Duke of Bedford, who only wants to use her power of foresight. She comes into contact and gets to know the maid of Orleans, Joan, or Jeanne. Upon the duke of Bedford's death, she marries a man of her household, and later comes to court to serve the foreign Queen in troubled times.
